Review: Monster House, the Movie

My friend, HuiXin (Bear the Pooh‘s author) was invited to special screening of the movie “Monster House”. Here is her review.

Last night, I had the opportunity to watch the premier of the Monster House at Cineplex, The Curve. The ticket was given by my friends so a bunch of us went. I had never been to Cineplex before as it is new, and since I am staying closer to One-Utama, I’d rather go there for movies.

Warning: Possible spoiler ahead?!

The story depicts a house that eats kids or whoever gets near to it. A group of 3 kids, DJ, Chower and Jane decided to do something about it. And their adventure began! This is actually a story about an over-protective loving husband ( Mr. NebberCracker ), who fell in love with a giantess, Constance. Everyone disliked the giantess because she was shrewd. It was otherwise for the Mr. NebberCracker, he even rescued her from the circus! They were so in love and he decided to build a house for Constance, but she fell to her death when she was fighting with some kids who got near to her house. However, her souls remained in the house to haunt, and the husband stays put to protect the neighborhood kids from being eaten up by his wife. In the end, Mr. NebberCracker decided to blow his monster house out to free everything before it gets out of hand.

The storyline was quite interesting, but the graphics weren’t as good as I thought it would be. The characters weren’t cute looking either. But their motions are very natural. The Mr. NebberCracker somehow resemblances Golumn from Lord of the Rings!

I am not really a big fan of animated movies, but worth a watch if you are one. How should this movie be categorized? Adventurous, scary or love story? You decide.

Trick or treat!
