Bloody Slow TMNet Streamyx (Part 2)

This is the follow-up of my previous post “Bloody Slow TMNet Streamyx.

The connection is getting slightly better in the early morning of September 8. At least, most of the websites loaded without timeout error… My friend living in the same town was not as lucky. His Streamyx connection automatically disconnected after 7pm each day and back in the early morning.

When I told my friend that the problem might continue until 19th September 2006 due to “system upgrade”, my friend swore: “What fxxx upgrade! Internet connection down for a half month?! It wasted our broadband subscription fee!”

This is a nationwide problem. Malaysia blogger icon, Jeff Ooi is not an exception which he writes “My home Streamyx has been sucky for the last two days and even now.”

Ironically, TMNet CEO will meet Streamyx users on September 15, 2006 for the Streamyx User Group meeting. This is interesting. ;)

My two cents

I am not sure what kind of system upgrade is it, which is nationwide and takes two weeks. TMNet seems like they’re not going to give a further explanation and do not have intention to do something for the affected customers.

Anyway, like this commenter said: “here’s hoping that the UPGRADE really means UPGRADE…”

Let’s wait and see. (What can we do if the broadband performance does not improve after the “upgrade”? Hmm… )

Update: Jeff Ooi is the lucky one. envy

  1. TMnet really dont know how to take care the hearts of their customer, to me, i think they are taking advantage of being to only nationwide broadband provider. At least you have broadband connection Lcf, at my home in seremban, we get only Dial-up connections. Damn TM, i just hope they go bankrupt or something, and what is taking Jaring so long to expand its coverage (sori but i am really pissed off with TM) ;)

  2. I’m not using Streamyx due to the reason that the distance from my area to the nearest port is > 5 KM.

It is really a shame to tell others that my area doesn’t has broadband service (FIY, i’m staying in KL, somewhere near Setapak)

For that reason, i’m using Maxis 3G and connected to internet using my 3G Phones. I’m pretty happy with it although slidely slower than Streamyx (if Streamyx doesn’t suck).

However, i’m able to get internet access anywhere in Klang Valley, even when moving inside my car :)

  3. yeah..same with me. I had to reconnect the modem to fix the timeout issue.
It looks like jaring is the better provider but I can;t subscribe it within my area. So sad. By the way, I’ve post some tips in my blog (check the link) and hope that it will help you all a little bit.

  4. sad…..how could tmnet monopoly the broadband service???

So many of us got no choice but have to stick to tmnet…….
