Apple iPhone 5 and iPad mini uses new Nano SIM card design. It is 30% smaller than existing Micro SIM card, so that free up extra space for other mobile components such as memory or larger battery in the small package.

Price & Availability

  • Celcom — FREE for Celcom customers of more than 12 months. RM5 for customers who have been with Celcom less than 12 months. Available at Celcom branches and Blue Cube stores nationwide.
  • DiGi — FREE for DG Smart Plan or DG Postpaid Plus sign ups. RM20 for swapping existing SIM to the Nano SIM card, available at DiGi outlets nationwide.
  • Maxis — RM25, available at Maxis Centres nationwide.
  • Umobile – RM10, available at UMobile Service centers.

Due to the smaller size of Nano SIM design, it is easier to destroy the SIM card than cutting your own Micro SIM. Cut it at your own risk!

About Nano SIM card

The Nano SIM card is 30% smaller and 15% thinner than the existing Micro SIM. It measures at 12.3 x 8.8 mm in size and 0.7 mm in thickness.

The much smaller Nano SIM continues to use the same smart card chips as existing SIM cards, and will offer the same functionality as all current SIM cards and is backwards compatible with existing SIM card designs.

The Nano SIMs can be inserted into adaptors for use with devices that utilise Mini SIMs or Micro SIMs.
