Nokia Connection 2007 Aftermath
I attended the Nokia Connection 2007 held at Raffles City Convention Centre, Singapore. Even though I woke up early but I was still late. I missed the presentations in the morning. Anyway, I managed to attend part of presentations in the afternoon, as well as the Nokia Connection Showcase.

What I learned from Nokia Connection 2007
After the annual event of Nokia, I learned that Nokia is pushing Internet to mobile devices. “Mobile will be Internet”, said Dr. Tero OjanperÃ¥, Nokia EVP & CTO. Nokia is promoting web browsing and integrated Internet services in mobile devices. Dr. Tero OjanperÃ¥ also revealed that Nokia will release mobile phones with WiMax support in 2008. VoIP call is the future of mobile communications.
Nokia Connection 2007 Showcase
At the Nokia Connection Showcase, a few of new phone models were displayed, such as Nokia 6120 classic, Nokia 3500, Nokia 2930, Nokia 2630, and Nokia 2505. Personally, I prefer Nokia 6120.
Nokia 6120 classic is a simple, slim and light phone with metal body and a big screen. Nokia 6120 is a 3G phone powered by Nokia’s latest S60 operating system. It has a 2 megapixel camera and supports up to 2GB of external memory. If price is not an issue, I will get a phone like this. If I can add one more features to Nokia 6120… it would be WiFi support.
For girls or those who like clampshell phone, Nokia 2505 might be your phone. It has a smooth and ultra-slim design that unfolds into a sleek, curved form. Small and compact. Nokia 2505 comes in 3 colors: Black, Pink and Sand Gold.

My two cents
While we will have WiMax phone in 2008, I am not sure when will WiMax be available in Malaysia. 5 years later, maybe? I am looking forward for mobile VoIP for everyone.
Whether you like it or not, we cannot live without the Internet in the future. Now, every computer must have Internet access. In the future, every mobile phone will have Internet access too. And, Web 2.0 will be integrated into your mobile phone and become Mobile 2.0.
What do you think?

It was a great experience going to Nokia Conn 2007 with you. The lunch was good too. Loved the phones and models.
You’d be amazed by the amount of Web 2.0 apps you can get for your mobile already.
If you haven’t, check out Fring (www.fring.com). It’s basically an integrative app for your S60 mobile that integrates your GSM voice calling with Instant Messaging and VOIP. You can even Twitter from Fring.
And don’t forget the Flickr plug-in that lets you post pictures and update your photostream directly from the phone.
I use a Maxis 3G unlimited data plan and I simply love it because it really makes my N73 a mobile internet device. I’m such an IM junky I use Fring to chat even when I’m out of office. Best of all, it’s covered under one flat rate.
Wat bear thinks? Erm… lots of ppl still will complain interenet is slow…. thehehehehehehe……
But seriously, bear dun think that using alot of mobile phone is good for health. Bear wish that nokia would come up with a system to address human health while using wireless systems.
Well, I believe Nokia is striving its best to regain its popularity. It’s definitely something worth looking forward to.
wow….nice and cool pictures…..
I only wish that there could be more cute models……;)
WiMAX phone? cool….I guess it will only reach here after 5 years….
By the way, Malaysian will see WiMAX networks by year end though I am not sure about the availability of WiMAX device in the market currently.
WiMAX is already here but for now it’s still expensive. airzed is currently providing the service.
