After launching the first 4G LTE service in Malaysia on 1st January 2013, Maxis now offer two 4G LTE smartphones with contract, Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC One XL, in Malaysia.
The two 4G LTE smartphones are available at Maxis Centres in KLCC and Taman Tun Dr Ismail. With Maxis SurfMore 75 24-month contract (RM75/month), you can buy Nokia Lumia 920 at RM1099 (RRP: RM1999) and HTC One XL at RM1199 (RRP: RM2099).
Malaysia Maxis telco confirmed that it will support 4G LTE 1800MHz spectrum in first 6 months in 2013, and revealed a list of supported 4G smartphones, including iPhone 5.
Maxis launched Malaysiaâ€™s first 4G LTE service on January 1st, 2013. However, due to the MCMC license, it is only available at 2600Mhz spectrum. It does not support LTE smartphones that support 1800Mhz spectrum, such as Apple iPhone 5. It disappointed new iPhone 5 owners because 4G LTE support is one of the iPhone 5 features.
In the recent Maxis Get-Together Session, Mark Dioguardi, Maxis Joint Chief Operating Officer, revealed that Maxis will support LTE 1800Mhz in the next 6 months. Meaning, your iPhone 5 can use Maxis 4G network in 2013.

Maxis 4G, the first “real” 4G LTEÂ service in Malaysia, has officially launched by Maxis Berhad (Maxis) on January 1st, 2013.
Maxis customers will enjoy 4G speed up to 75Mbps, with average speed of 10 to 30Mbps. 4G LTE is about 10x faster than current 3G connection.Â Your connection will switch to 3G if you are not in 4G LTE coverage area.
Maxis 4G LTE is now available in selected parts of the Klang Valley including Taman Tun Dr. Ismail, Damansara Utama, Desa Sri Hartamas, Bandar Puchong Jaya, Bandar Sunway and Cyberjaya. Other areas that have partial coverage are SS2, Taman Paramount, Section 17 and 19 in Petaling Jaya, Plaza Damansara, Bandar Kinrara and Taman Wawasan in Puchong.
Interested customers in 4G LTE coverage area can now walk in to Maxis Centers in KLCC and Taman Tun Dr. Ismail to sign up for the service. Subscribe any of the monthly Maxis Wireless Broadband plans of RM88 and above to get the LTE modem at RM400 to enjoy the super speed.
Maxis has announced that it is all set to launch Maxis 4G LTE service in Malaysia following the allocation of the 2600 MHz spectrum band for 4G LTE by MCMC (Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission).
Please note that 2600 MHz spectrum band is not supported by Apple iPhone 5, which will be launched in Malaysia on Dec 14, 2012.
There are so many different LTE bands used in different countries by different telcos. iPhone 5 has 3 variants models to support many LTE bands: 1(2100 MHz) , 3(1800 MHz), 4(AWS), 5(850 MHz), 13(700c MHz), 17(700b MHz), 25(1900 MHz), but Band 7(2600 MHz) is not in the list.
