#MYCyberSALE starts today! The first government-led online sale in the World runs from September 29, 2014 to October 1, 2014.

It is also the biggest online sale event in Malaysia with a total of 250 e-Marketplaces including local and foreign online retailers. They are offering up to 90% discounts for online deals.

This online sale is endorsed and governed by the Ministry and regulators such as the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism (MDTCC) which oversees the overall e-commerce Act, regulation and buyer protection; the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), which oversees regulations around communication and multimedia; SMECorp which governs the participation of Malaysian SMEs; and CyberSecurity Malaysia which oversees the e-commerce and cyberspace security, code of conduct and trust.

I would say almost every Malaysia e-commerce site is participating in the #MYCyberSALE event, including popular online retailers like LeLong, LAZADA, ZALORA, RAKUTEN, GROUPON, IPMART. Even my brother’s small baby clothes online store — BabyLand.my — joins the online sale event, too!

The online sale website has 5 big categories: Fashion, Electrical & Electronics, Travel, Lifestyle & Entertainment, Flowers & Fooed & Gift, and Services. Online shops are listed using their custom #MYCyberSALE banner with a link to their online store.

I also notice that many online retailers do not create a custom landing page for the big event. They are missing the opportunity to generate more targeted sales and build up mailing list!

#MYCyberSALE is a 3-day online sale event starts from today till October 1, 2014. Spend some time to browse through the online deals, shop & save now!

You will stand a chance to win #MYCyberSALE lucky draw to win prizes like Apple MacBook Air, Dell Inspiron II 3000 series laptop, Huawei Honor 6 smartphone, and more!

P.S. Please share some great #MYCyberSALE deals you found with us!

Maxis has announced that it is all set to launch Maxis 4G LTE service in Malaysia following the allocation of the 2600 MHz spectrum band for 4G LTE by MCMC (Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission).

Please note that 2600 MHz spectrum band is not supported by Apple iPhone 5, which will be launched in Malaysia on Dec 14, 2012.

There are so many different LTE bands used in different countries by different telcos. iPhone 5 has 3 variants models to support many LTE bands: 1(2100 MHz) , 3(1800 MHz), 4(AWS), 5(850 MHz), 13(700c MHz), 17(700b MHz), 25(1900 MHz), but Band 7(2600 MHz) is not in the list.

Apple made an iPhone supported LTE networks page to help you to see if iPhone 5 works with LTE networks in your country. Malaysia is not in the list, yet.

Your new Maxis iPhone 5 cannot use Maxis 4G LTE network. It’s ironic. To be fair, none of the Malaysian telcos’ LTE network supported by iPhone 5. They are all using 2600 MHz. Blame MCMC?

We were hoping that MCMC, like what Singapore did, release license for LTE Band 3(1800 MHz) in addition to Band 7(2600 MHz). We are still waiting…

Currently, only Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 in Malaysia supports LTE frequency 2600 MHz.
