Review: Eneloop Rechargeable Battery

eneloop rechargeable batteryI bought 2 pack of SANYO eneloop rechargeable battery at the PC Fair 2007. I first knew about eneloop battery from my friend, Weilian. He helped me buy 2 pack. It is so good that I wanted to buy more eneloop since then.

eneloop rechargeable battery is less known compared to other brands in local market. But, it is the best I have ever used (another brand I used is GP).

The 2 pack price is RM38 (promotion price). It was around RM45 when Weilian bought it to me. You can try to get it from Foto Miami Sdn Bhd.

The advantages of eneloop rechargeable battery

eneloop is ready to use, and can be stored for a long time but still retains 90% (6 months later) of the capacity. No need to recharge before use, like other brand rechargeable battery. Works in low temperatures (-10°C).

Although the battery power has only 2000mAh, it can take many camera shots like a 2500mAh battery! According to SANYO test, it can takes up to 514 shots.

If you are looking for good rechargeable battery, I highly recommend eneloop! What rechargeable battery are you using? Why choose it?

  1. How about the charger? Did it include the charger? I bought 1 pack of SONY AA battery at pasar malam, just RM10. But i don’t know the quality yet…….

  2. Yes, it can be charged using generic charger. I use GP charger for the eneloop battery. Don’t need same brand.

    @Shahid Ali: I already have a battery charger :)

@James: yes, it got USB battery charger but I think it is slow as the USB power is low.

  3. I once bought a 4800mHa Sony rechargeable batteries from eBay, but it’s fake :( . The thing is Sony did not come up with 4800mAH rechargeable. So becareful when you see this anywhere.

So, am still looking for alternatives rechargeable batteries. this post really come in handy. Cool.

  4. @LcF: I see some selling UK based Uniross Hybrio batteries now, those similar like Eneloop.

@Syahid Ali: We do not need to charge the Eneloop batteries when we use them for the first time. We take them out from the pack and they can be used straight away (like normal alkaline batteries). Once they have flatten out, we can recharge them (now they are like rechargeable batteries). If you don’t use your digital camera for a year, the Eneloop batteries still maintain their capacity. Other rechargeable batteries would have flatten out again in 1 month.

We can charge the Eneloop batteries using normal Ni-MH charger. I use Maha PowerEx charger.

  5. I think I’ll go to buy the batteries later as I do want to get such powerful batteries into my Canon DC.
Q:If i use the original Eneloop charger, how long will be for full charged of the batteries?

  6. You gave me an idea.

Why don’t we give these batteries as a Christmas/Hari Raya/Chinese New year present?

And stick a note on it that says – “Toys not included”.

    That’d be fun :P

  7. If you buy more than RM388.00 per invoice, I can give free 4AA.

Full Charge for Quick Charger is about 3.6 hours for 2AA. Calculation is based on Output at 550mA (2AA). For 2AAA, is about 2.1 hours based on 380mA (2AAA)
