ASUS ZenFone Zoom, the Slimmest 3x Optical Zoom Smartphone
ASUS ZenFone Zoom with 3x optical zoom to be available in Malaysia. ASUS took almost a year since CES 2015 to make the smartphone available in 2016.

Slimmest 3x Optical Zoom Smartphone
ASUS ZenFone Zoom is not the first smartphone with optical zoom. For instance, Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom has optical zoom camera but it looks more like a compact camera, instead of a smartphone.
ZenFone Zoom is the world’s thinnest optical zoom smartphone, with 3x zoom 13MP camera packed in a slim body with only 5mm at the edges.
The innovative 10-element lens (4x aspherical lens, 4x glass lenses, 2x prism lens) was created by Hoya. The lens is configured in a dual-prism periscope arrangement to maximize incoming light and capture the best possible quality photo. Of course, the unique design also keeps the smartphone’s camera module to the slimmest.

ASUS ZenFone Zoom Design
At first glance, ASUS ZenFone Zoom reminds me about the Nokia Lumia 1020 which has the similar big camera part at the back. The latter has no optical zoom, though.
Unlike previous ZenFone series with plastic back cover, ZenFone Zoom has premium build quality.
The unibody metal frame is polished with a smooth finish. The back cover is real leather crafted using traditional Italian tailoring skills.
The camera module is available in Pure Black or Ceramic White colours. It is protected by a dedicated frame made from aerospace-grade alloys.
Also, every ZenFone Zoom comes with a leather strap for your confident shooting.

ASUS ZenFome Zoom is not only about the optical zoom camera. Packed inside the smartphone are high-end hardware specs.
It is powered by 64-bit quad-core Intel Atom 2.5Ghz processor with 4GB dual-channel DDR3 RAM and 128GB storage. Supports LTE Category 4+ for download speed up to 250Mbit/s.
The built-in 3,000mAh battery with BoostMaster technology only takes 39 minutes to charge from 0% to 60%.
The display is 5.5-inch with 1920×1080 Full HD IPS display with 403ppi and 60ms touch-response time. The latest Corning Gorilla Glass 4 is used to protect the phone from drop-damage.
Price and release date in Malaysia
ASUS ZenFone Zoom price in Malaysia is RM 2,099 (inclusive 6% GST). The release date is around end-January 2016.
