How to Add AdSense to Google Sites

Google AdSense announced that, as a result of a recent integration, now you can place AdSense ads on Google Sites to earn money.

Google Sites is an online application that makes creating a team web site as easy as editing a document. With Google Sites, people can quickly gather a variety of information in one place — including videos, calendars, presentations, attachments, and text — and easily share it for viewing or editing with a small group, their entire organization, or the world.

Here I show you how to add Adsense and change AdSense ads styles on Google Sites.

How to add AdSense to Google sites

1. Login Google Sites, click on the site you want to add AdSense.
2. Click the More actions drop-down menu, and select Manage site.
3. Click Monetize on the left side of the page.
4. Click the Monetize this site button.
5. Create a new AdSense account or use an existing account.
6. To add AdSense into…
   • sidebar, simply click on the “Add” button under Site Sidebar.
   • page content, Edit any page, then choose Insert -> AdSense from the menu to place ads within your page content.

How to change AdSense format in Google Sites?

To change AdSense format in Site Sidebar:

1. click Site layout under Site apperance
2. click edit of AdSense widget in sidebar
3. Pick the ad format you like and click OK button

To change AdSense format in Page Content:

1. At the web page you want to edit, click Edit page
2. Choose Insert -> AdSense from the menu
3. Pick the ad format you like.
4. For Display Style, Blend in is without ad border and Stand out is with ad border.

How to change AdSense colors?

In Google Sites, Google AdSense will follow the style and colors of your web page. Meaning, you cannot set AdSense ads to a different style to stand out from the page content.

To change the AdSense colors on Google Sites:

1. Click the More actions drop-down menu, and select Manage site.
2. Click Colors and Fonts on the left side of the page.
3. Make changes to the page area where your AdSense ads is in (e.g. Sidebar gadgets). Note: Changing font type has no effect to AdSense ads font.
4. Click Save changes to save your setup.

My two cents

It is very easy to create a complete website with Google Sites (you can even use your own domain name!). With AdSense integration, now EVERYONE can make money online!

Simply create a mini site using Google Sites. Dump in all the content and add Google AdSense widgets. Sit back and wait for money to come in! (Of course, you need to market the site too!)
