Huawei Ascend P7 Media Launch - Catwalk

Huawei Malaysia launched Ascend P7, the company’s latest flagship smartphone, and new 4G LTE devices in Malaysia. LiewCF is one of the invited media to the launch event at Grand Hyatt hotel on the 10th June 2014.

Ascend P7 is the slimmest 4G LTE smartphone in the world with only 6.5mm thin. The display is 5-inch touchscreen with 1920×1080 FullHD resolution at 455 PPI, which is higher density than iPhone 5S and Samsung Galaxy S5.

Huawei uses metal for phone frame and strong Corning Gorilla Glass 3 in both front and rear covers. The back glass is made with 7-layer surface treatment using “spin effect” micro-pattern design.

Ascend P7 is powered by 1.8GHz HiSilicon Kirin 910 quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal memory and latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Emotion UI 2.3.

With the included phone management software, you can customize the permission, network and notification manager. For example, you can allow only selected applications to start automatically when turning on phone.

Ascend P7 uses 2,500 mAh lithium polymer battery with advanced power-saving mode. It is possible to stretch remaining 10% battery life to last 24 hours on standby.

Ascend P7 main camera is 13MP Back-illuminated sensor (BSI) with f/2.0 aperture. The rear camera can be activated within 1.2 seconds by double-pressing the lower volume button when the phone is locked. You would not miss another golden shot anymore!

Ascend P7 equipped a 8MP 5-piece aspherical lens front camera with IMAGESmart 2.0 software. The “beauty mode” allows you to take better selfies with 10 level auto-facial enhancements. Panorama Selfie (or “grouphie”) feature make selfie with large group possible by taking and merging 3 photos.

Huawei is leading company in networking and telecommunications equipments and services. Ascend P7 has a unique dual antenna design to improve signal receptions and stabilized connection even during weak signal reception (minimize battery drain). It support a wide range of cellular frequencies and 4G LTE bands around the world.

Along with Ascend P7, Huawei Malaysia also launched new 4G LTE devices: MediaPad X1, MediaPad M1, Ascend G6, and the TalkBand B1 wearable.

MediaPad X1 is a 4G LTE phablet with 7-inch FullHD display, powered by HiSilicon Kirin 910 quad-core 1.6GHz processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal memory. 13MP rear camera with F2.2 aperture and 5MP front camera with 22mm wide-angle lens.

MediaPad X1 is only 7.18mm thin and 2.99mm narrow bezel. Weight only 239 gram, MediaPad X1 has build-in 5000mAh Li-Polymer battery, which can also reverse charging other devices.

Huawei TalkBand B1 is the world’s first hybrid smart band. It does not only keeping track of your active life but also a detachable Bluetooth headset. It is also IP 57, water and dust resistant. The wearable supports both iOS and Android devices. Its band has build-in USB plug for power charging.

Event photos

Before the event started, Huawei models were walking around with the brand new Ascend P7 and invited guests to take selfie pictures. The pictures then printed wirelessly on-the-spot.

The printed photos’ quality is good (yes, I took one too), perfectly demonstrate the capabilities of Ascent P7’s 8MP front camera and auto-facial enhancement feature.

Product presentation of the Ascend P7 and new 4G LTE devices was done by Gary Xu, Country Director, Consumer business Group, Huawei Technologies Malaysia. Followed by catwalk performance which models are showcasing the new devices on T-stage.

Huawei Malaysia had media and Facebook lucky draw to giveaway latest devices to the winners. The company generously gave away 3 units Ascend P7 and 2 units MediaPad X1 to the media, as well as 10 units Ascend P7 for Facebook fans.
