Become a ProBlogger
I have been thinking about becoming a ProBlogger recently. If one day I leave my current job, I probably will be a ProBlogger, at least try for a few months.
(LiewCF’s defination: Problogger — a blogger who works for full time and blog for living.)
I enjoy working at home and freedom. :)
Wake up in the morning, have breakfast and read newspaper while chatting with mom. Then, switch on computer, hook to Internet and read what’s happend in the worlds. Read something interesting? Blog it. I listen to my favourite radio stations at the same time.
Few hours later, lunch time. I watch TV news while eating mom’s cook. After that take a short nap or read the unfinished newspaper, magazines and books. Then, go up to Internet again, read the lastest updated news, and blog.
Evening, I go out for some fresh air and walk/jogging. Have dinner after bathed. Watch TV with family. Then start third Internet session of the day. Maybe write some own contents or rantings before goto bed and end my day.
Every month, I receives “salary” from Google and other online advertisement/affiliate programs. There is no limitation of my earning. I can earn as much as I managed.
Isn’t it nice to have life like that? Oh, is it boring? I don’t think so, Internet is always excited. ;)
I am not sure is there any ProBlogger in Malaysia yet. I think Colbert is one, but not confirmed with him yet. Yvonne Foong wanna be a ProBlogger too. I looks like a ProBlogger, but I am not(yet).
ProBlogging will not make you a millionaire, but you can make a living on it. :)
If I were you, I would be problogger long ago. Too bad, my blog doesn’t have sufficient traffic to bring me a consistent income :/
Well, personally, I’m more toward to be a freelancer rather than problogger.
Well guys… I’m actually blogging full-time.. with a part-time job (that requires me to go to the office twice a week). The rest of the time, I’m spending at home, modifiying codes.. try to catch up with the pace… of breaking news. Though not much ppl clickin on my ads not… still working hard on it.. *praying hard* ;)
you can actually do a lot more than a problogger.. problogging can a stepping stone for a wider biz opportunity. Dont limit yourself, you have talent to become something much more :)
Chi An, if I work at home. I will be a full time freelancer as well. :)
Thank you, Raymond.
If you turn to problogging, I’ll tug along with you. haha!
I start out as freelance also.. but income just not stable… but after 2 years of working at corporate world.. i dont mind going back!!
I want to become one too! But still constructing my site with difficulties, if you could help me out, Liew?
I’ve got a very reliable host now……
LCF..I am not a problogger (yet) maybe in 1-2 years time. Right now my job is still putting lots of bread on my table and feeding my internet addiction. haha
some day…. problogging will be my career and title. Imagine the faces of those aunties and uncles when they ask what your job is…hehe
Does a problogger only has to make income through adsense and/or other forms of advertising? And how much can you really make from blogging day to day news? I don’t think the earning per click is that high, right?
Could someone who is paid to review products and services and post his/her findings on his/her blog be called a problogger as well? Wouldn’t this be a more justifiable description of a “professional” in the sense of the word, that the person actually works to earn his/her keep?
As much as I enjoy blogging myself, I doubt that it could be called a profession… especially my unchecked grammar and spelling mistakes are taken into account :)
A problogger can make income by blogging from many revenue sources. Currently, the advertisement is the main source.
My defination of “problogger” is someone who earn his/her living via blogging, this include reviewing products and services.
Currently I do not charge for reviewing products and services, but I get the reviewed product for free.
How much can I earn? Well, more than my fulltime job salary. So, I won’t have financial problem if I switch to full time blogging(just that less one static income).
I’m working on the same idea myself. I just started my first “pro-blog” the other day (an mp3 blog).
I’ve had fairly good traffic so far, but not a lot of revenue. I’m okay with that though, because I plan on doing a couple other blogs, and supplementing with freelance design. I also realize that more traffic will come from more promotion.
My main decision in doing it is that I’m a single dad raising my daughter on my own, and it’s nice to spend some real time with her. Like you, I don’t plan on getting rich from it, but the value I’m getting from the time with my girl is worth far more than what any full-time job could bring.
Reviewing a product? But how to apply for reviewing a product?
yeah… how do u apply for reviewing a product.. ? Need what qualifications ?
:)
andy, you have a nice blog. Send my warm regards to your daughter. :)
Some companies see your blog and want you to promote their products then they will contact you.
Or, you can send your request/profile to the product companies(I haven’t do this).
I wanna join! Does USD20 a week enuff to call myself one? Hahaha, can lah, eat roti everyday. Then, again, I got the atm!
Tech bloggers – I run a blog called RealTechNews.com. I started it as a hobby after I left CNET and it is really taking off. If you want to contribute to the blog by posting some of your posts, you can point back to your blogs and that will drive traffic and awareness. I got almost 500K visitors in August alone. if you have a good tech blog and are interested, drop me an email: alice@realtechnews.com with the subject line: contributing to RealTechnews.com
We don’t pay but we have a great audience and you can get some traction on your own sites.
I’ve never made any significant money from my google ads, how do you do it?
before you make money from your blog, how much traffic you get? Build up the traffic first then the revenue will come later.
