Blogathon 2007 in Malaysia

Blogathon 2007Blogathon 2007 is coming! There will be 556 bloggers blog straight 24 hours to raise funds for charity at July 28, 2007.

What is a Blogathon? “During the Blogathon, people update their websites every 30 minutes for 24 hours straight. For this, they collect sponsorships. Pledges can be a flat donation, or a certain amount for every hour the blogger manages to stay awake.”

Instead of a blogathoner, I have been a blogathon sponsor since 2005. This year I will support ALL Malaysian blogathoners.

I will sponsor RM500 to every Malaysian blogger who blog for local charities, and USD100 to every Malaysian blogger who blog for foreign charities. The amount will be shared, if two or more bloggers blog for the same charity.

Here is the list of Malaysian bloggers joining Blogathon 2007:

Please support them and make a difference to the world!

[Thanks to pelf for the list of Malaysian blogathoners]

Thanks man. That really helps a hell lot. Given that you donated to every one of us. Now I believe that there are people with true altruism in the world. :)

  2. em..i am curious!
update their blog in every 30 min?

if i am not mistaken, wordpress has a function that able to schedule post. if a person create 48 post and publish it with the schedule….that mean no need 24 hour stay awake right…

correct me if i am wrong..

No, one of the rules is that blogathoners CANNOT write posts prior to the event. All posts must be written LIVE, and they cannot be scheduled to publish automatically while the blogger goes to sleep. That’s where the challenge lies, I think :)

  4. Liew, I tabik you for your generousity! BTW, hehehe, I just started my first adwords campaign and hope I can afford to pay for my ad to appear here.

They send out “spies” called “monitors”. These monitors will occasionally leave a message or two, etc. (they have their methods) Not exactly sure how they detect scheduled posts though.
