5 Websites for Free Stock Photos Download

In this guest post,  Ken Myers shares 5 websites where you can download professional stock photos for FREE!Â
When it comes to your website you know that having visuals is a great way to catch people’s attention. As the vast majority of internet users are visually oriented, an image on your webpage can increase your traffic and draw attention to posts or places that you want visitors to click or read.
With that in mind you also do not want to spend a lot of money adding images to your website. However you do want professional looking pictures that amplify your website rather than make it look shabby.
Well, here are five great sites where you can find professional stock photography for free:
Table of Contents
1. FreeDigitalPhotos
FreeDigitalPhotos is my absolute favorite site to get free stock photos. Everything on their site comes in a free version.
The small size which is around four hundred pixels wide is always free to download and use with an attribution. After that it is only a few dollars to upgrade the size or buy the photo for use without attribution.
Almost all the images are professional quality and it is very easy to download the images. You do not have to sign up for an account or anything!
With an intuitive search engine and an easy to find photo format, this site is definitely the first place I look for free stock photos for my website.
2. Woophy
Woophy free photo site has an unusual name but it stands for world of Photography.
The great advantage to this site is that you have access to professional photographs from all over the world. There is even a map that you can click to see photos from different areas.
It is a great site to find images for an ethnically diverse website or specific cultural images. Look up images by city, country or subject.
3. Stock Vault
Stock Vault is a great source for more artsy photos. If you love color, bright lights, and unusual shots then this is a great site to check out. It is also good because they offer large photos for free as well, not just small ones.
Unfortunately it is owned by ShutterStock, so many times it will refer you to paid images on that site.
4. Morgue File
Morgue File is a great one for a mix of professional and non-professional images.
With photographs in sizes no less than 800 x 600 pixels, there are a wide variety of images that you can find to use on your website.
Attribution is required, but you can contact the original photographers and see if you can purchase the photo for cheap. Best of all, all the images on this site are free!
5. Stock.xchng
Stock.xchng free photograph site is full of great images that are royalty free. You can use and distribute these stock photos anywhere and most of them are very high quality. Although they do not have a large range of images to choose from there are some very good stock photographs on this site.
These are just a few of the free photo sites that you can find online. As I said, each one has its pros and cons, but if you are looking for a great free image for your website you can check out these five great sites!
