What is Google Checkout?

Google Checkout is a online shopping solution by… well, Google. It aims at making your online shopping quick and easy. Google Checkout stores your billing and shipping information, so that you won’t need to enter them for every purchase. Take a Google Checkout tour.

Is Google Checkout another PayPal wannabe?

Maybe, and maybe not. Same as PayPal, Google Checkout is a online payment processing gateway with free registration. You may use Google Checkout to sell your products and get paid for the sales by Google.

However, unlike PayPal, Google Checkout does not use virtual currency(virtual money). Credit cards and debit cards are the only payment method for Google Checkout.

Google Checkout for consumers

Conclusion, Google Checkout is new. Wait until the online stores you are using apply (and accept) Google Checkout as a payment method.

Google Checkout is good as another payment method for your clients. Google Checkout simplified checkout processes and protects you from fraud. The registration is free, Google Checkout charges 2% + $0.20 for each sales transaction.

Integrate Google Checkout

With the Google Checkout API, I believe more open source shopping carts will soon support Google Checkout. :)

Note: Currently, Google Checkout only accept U.S. merchants and clients.
