Nokia N8, the design
The front
I quite like the Nokia N8 design at the first glance. Big touch screen with only 1 menu button in front. Nice color. The microphone is hiding at the bottom of display.
The menu button flashes when you have notifications (SMS, missed called, etc). I found the menu button is too small and hard to reach by thumb as it is located the bottom edge of the phone.
The top
At the top are AV connector, HDMI connector and power key.
The bottom
There is only a charging connector at the bottom
The back
At the back is the selling point of Nokia N8 — 12 MegaPixel Carl Zeiss lens camera and Xenon flash.
Perhaps a 12-megapixel camera is too big to be fixed into the body. The camera park stands out from the rest of the back surface for about 2mm, which looks odd and might scratch the lens glass. Not good.
Under the camera lens is the loudspeaker. Due to the location of the loudspeaker, you’d get a softer sound when placing Nokia N8 with front facing up. Different volume depends on how you place the phone on the desk…
The sides
At the top of one side of Nokia N8 are the MicroSD memory card slot and SIM card slot. The bottom of the side are the charging indicator light and micro USB port.
I like the charging indicator light because it tells you whether the charger is power on/off at a glance. The micro USB port is the only port/slow with no cover.
At the top of one side of Nokia N8 are the MicroSD memory card slot and SIM card slot, closed by a pair of plastic door-like-cover.
On the other side, there are volume/zoom key, lock switch, and camera button. I found the lock switch right at the middle of the side is hard to reach by thumb when I am holding Nokia N8.
How much is Nokia N8 price in Malaysia?
The Nokia N8’s recommended retail price in Malaysia is RM1690 (USD$547). If you subscribe to Maxis Nokia N8 phone deal, you can get Nokia N8 as low as RM999 (24 months contract).
“I like the N8 at a glance” same here. Unfortunately, I don’t like Symbian OS. never like it ever since the first one come out right up to the current version. Since the announcement they are going open source, I like to see what other will do with the OS. Maybe I’ll like it.
The processing power of this phone is crap. camera is awesome!
For now… this phone is not in my wanted list. I must admit this is one awesome phone with a nice design.
Cheers
Agree. We are placing hope on Nokia Meebo OS..
