Fake Email Attempts to Sabotage Adsense Account

Few days ago, I received an email titled “Google AdSense Account Status” from Google Adsense team, saying that I was sending emails to encourage fraud clicks. I didn’t do it, in fact, I strongly advise against it. Someone was trying to sabotage my Adsense account by sending out fake emails.

I panicked, even though I am an honest Adsense publisher. I replied the email immediately with any possible useful information I have to prove my innocence.

Then, I caught a net friend who is earning big money online to discuss the matter. In fact, he had received several emails from Adsense team about improper ads format design. Yet, his Adsense account is still active because he always correct his mistakes immediately and seek advice from the Adsense team.

I felt better after chatting with him, while waiting for the Adsense team to reply my email.

A day after, I received the email reply. They took my explanation and believed that I was innocent, and my account remains active. The Adsense team also made a note in my account, in case the same thing happens again.

Phew~ :)

My two cents

This is a good experience indeed. The Google AdSense policy enforcement team is not as bad as described by some people. They were willing to listen to me.

I strongly advice every Adsense publisher to read Google AdSense Program Policies until you understand it. If you have some cool ideas on how to increase your Adsense revenue… wait, first seek advice from the Google Adsense team.

And, always monitor your Adsense stats. Take any unusual clicks increment, it is possible that someone is trying to sabotage your account by fraud clicks. Report to Adsense team for safety precaution and advices.

Good luck with Adsense!

  1. yea, that is true, the adsense team is NOT as bad as some people say.
I guess if you have a popular site/blog..click fraud tends to happen..cause of jealousy..etc…

  2. well after all their policy is “Do No Evil” :)

I cant say the same for others like Paypal, Commission Junction and Linkshare.

  3. So anyone say google ban them without any reason, is a bullshit. Google will accept your explanation if you’re innocent.

  4. that is the problem, lets say if i hate this person and i click his ads for a thousand times. what happen?

I think google adsense understand and they do monitor the IP address. If ur innocent, then u got nothing to be afraid.

  5. that is the problem, lets say if i hate this person and i click his ads for a thousand times. what happen?

That’s why it is important to always monitor our adsense stats.

  6. Been there, done that.

I already got about 5-6 fake emails from “adsense”. Nothing to be panic about.

Ever heard about “header” details? By default, most web-based email service and local ( software ) tend to “hide” the details. Turn back the function and you can see who were sending you fake emails.

  7. Wah…..erm..so..did the google team have proove to say that you send the emails?

and..erm.. don’t you want to show the emails meh? ahaks! maybe can give us some guide..huhu~

  8. I think the title of the post can be quite confusing to some. Was the email really fake, i.e. it didn’t come Google Adsense team? Was it a phishing attempt? If that’s the case, no need to reply.

But if the email is genuine and comes from Google Adsense but the concern it addresses is inaccurate due to click fraud done by people other than yourself than you’ve done the correct thing by contacting them.

  9. lol, I think you misunderstood here. The fake email is not from google adsense. The fake email is an email with liew name there sent to ask people click on adsense ads on his blog. Somehow, google know about the email and sent the warning email to liew.

I hope you don’t mind liew, I’m clarifying some confusion here. And I guess, you can publish the fake email so your reader can see it

  10. @alang: thank you for the clarification on my behave.

the reason I don’t publish the fake email content is to avoid ppl misunderstand that it is from me. I will get into real trouble then.

actually the email message is simple, something like “hey, come to *** site and click the ads”.
