Video Beside AdSense Ads to Improve CTR
We knew that adding images beside Google AdSense ads will increase CTR. Sunny Tan of Tips.com.my discovered another way to increase CTR — Video beside AdSense ads!

Video Beside AdSense Ads to Improve CTR
From the screenshot, you can see that a YouTube video is nicely placed beside the AdSense ads. The chosen video is related to the page content, in this example: wedding.
You also noticed that the YouTube video has been resized to fit the page layout, which you can do it manually by changing the width and height of YouTube embed code.
Although Sunny Tan did not reveal the CTR but I believe the CTR is quite high. The video has effectively attracting our attention to the AdSense ads.
Update: Sunny Tan updated me regarding the CTR. He got about 100% CTR increased after implementing the trick. The link unit underneath the video is pulling a lot more clickthroughs than the ads block beside the video.
Try it, and tell me your results! :)
Tip: Always choose a video related to your content. An unrelated video is disturbing and annoying.
Great tip :) I never have a thought about it before…anyway..thanks :D
Hey…great tips man…
I wonder how did he do that? :)
…i mean there are thousands of articles in his site!!?? Did he really put it up for each article?
Please check with the google adsense team first because not long ago i read some thread from forum saying google does not allow ads to be appear below or side of any video. A 100% CTR will definitely trigger the alarm of google and they might check on ALL your sites. Please note that once your account is banned it is very difficult to apply or get it back. An email to the adsense team won’t take you too much time. Be safe rather than regret.
above video player will be fine? :-)
Jes,
Perhaps you can look at this

Google TOS says you cannot link your codes to a copyrighted materials like mp3s and videos.
What this guy did was to use youtube videos (youtube was bought over by Google). There is no direct violation to the ads like inducing fraudulent clicks and so on
Even Youtube has its own copyright policy so it’s safe to say you can you the videos on the page.
If putting videos near ads is wrong, then do you think putting images near ads is also wrong? :)
Hi Jes,
Yes, I’ve already informed Google about the implementation and certainly I was allowed to do that.
Hope this helps
Thanks Sunny and Wong for the superb answers.
I have been implementing that trick for few months and seems ok.. no problem at all regarding Google TOS… Good tip though! Try it guys… No joke man the CTR do increase one hell of a ride..
The TOS states that embedded videos can be used for personal and non-commercial purposes only. Would the ads violate the “non-commercial” part?
“The TOS states …” – I was referring to YouTube’s TOS (Article 5F).
I wouldn’t do it. I think it looks like a way to get banned. Google’s TOS is very strict about certain things. Customers probably click on the ads thinking it has something to do with the video. Google does not want to trick people into clicking on ads, as publishers who are advertising will see absolutely no conversion since clickers will obviously not be buying anything.
