What’s in the box?
It is a white colour hardcover box with minimize design. You see a big “X5Pro” on top of it and “vivo” logo on sides. Opening the box from the top to reveal the carefully wrapped X5Pro smartphone.
Take out the phone and removes its tray, you see a paper box containing SIM removal, quick start guide, warranty card in Malay language, and–surprise!–a frosted case for the phone. The free frost case is a good bonus for X5Pro owners.
The bottom of the packaging box are square shape rounded corners USB power adapter (output: 5V/2A), microUSB cable and vivo XE600i in-ear headphones.
The vivo XE600i in-ear headphones worth about RM96 (RMB158) if you buy it separately. Its specs are better than Mi headphones on paper:
- Frequency rage: 20Hz-22000Hz
- Nominal impedance: 16ohm
- Sensitivity: 110db
- Cable length: 1.25m
That’s all you get in vivo X5Pro box. Did I mention that all of them are white colour?
First impression
vivo X5Pro has a thin flat body with double-sided “2.5D” glass panels and metal frame. The curved edges are smooth and improve grip in your hand. Sadly, the “2.5D” glass looks nothing more than another glass panel for me.
The three capacitive buttons at the front are not backlight. The bottom has two grill holes, one for speaker and another one for mic. It looks awkward familiar from this viewing angle (hint: iPhone 6).
The volume rocker, power/sleep button and SIM/microSD card slot are on the right side. You will have to sacrifices an SIM slot to install a microSD memory card. The opposite side of the phone is clean.
The 13MP rear camera is located at the top left corner at the back with single LED flash beside it. The camera bump is small, but you will wish it is as flat as the phone’s glass surface. Good to know that the camera is covered by a sapphire glass protecting it from scratches.
vivo X5Pro runs Funtouch OS 2.1 based on Android 5.0 Lollipop, but the user interface looks more like iOS than Android. For example, it does not use Android recent apps listing and app drawer. And, you swipe from phone’s bottom to reveal quick settings and recent apps icons.
As a result, it will be a learning curve for both iPhone and Android users.
