Who are Your Blog’s Neighbors?
Are you hosted in trusted web server ?
Most of the serious bloggers bought their own domain name and web hosting from web hosting provider. As a beginner or moderate bloggers, you might not be able to rent a dedicated server to host your own blog. I believe you are one of the bloggers or website owner that host your blog in shared hosting like me.
So now the question, is your blog or website hosted in a trusted web server? How to check whether your web hosting is trusted?
How to check your blog’s neighbors?
The method is just like how you choose which house to buy? Normally smart resident will ask around the residents nearby and observe their living environment (including the type of residents, geographical and living standard) before they make decision to buy or rent a house.
So in this blogsphere, we also need to check the environment before choose the trusted web hosting. With myIPneighbors IP search, you can check who are your web hosting neighbors.

With the result from myIPneighbors, you will know whether your blog or website packed into a crowded host with hundreds of other sites? Or is there questionable content being hosted side by side with your site? If so, it may be time to look for a better host.
For example, I’ve done a search on the domain name AhTim.com by using myIPneighbors. And guess what? It shows that the server is hosting 37 domains or subdomains together which is quite reasonable. That’s the reason why my blog loaded in so fast! With this full list, I browse through my neighbors’ websites and observe their type and rank. From that information collection, roughly you will know whether this is trusted web hosting or not.
For my case, of course it is trusted host. Why? There are 3 main reasons:
- Neighbor with Liewcf, who has been a full time blogger for years. Since the host capable to support thousands of daily visitors and millions of hits per month for years, no doubt that this is trusted and reliable host.
- There are no questionable content or scam website in the hosting server.
- 37 domains (including subdomains) in a host is not crowded. Fast response can be expected.
How about your neighbors? Who are they?

iCalvyn, Yes there is some more advance tools to check your hosting server. Might have follow up post on this. :)
Wayne, You are welcome to be our new neighbor, contact LcF for the deal. I think you should be a good neighbor right? :)
Stocktube, it’s better to have your own “house” if you are serious blogger.
wow blog neighbors is adult website and got 200++ website under my IP address.
P/s: can I change my website IP address??
@ismail: the ip address is assigned by your web hosting provider. you may request for an individual IP address for your website, but you have to pay more for that.
I have about 600+ neighbours….that’s quite a lot on a single server…I should probably switch to a different webhost…
Sadly, it doesn’t work for VPSes… :( i.e. to know who your neighbours are on the same server machine.
Still a great tool! :) Fun stuff.
Anyone know whether it is possible to have several IP addresses associated with one server?
… meaning when you do a look up for a domain name, it might show only a handful of other domains hosted with you, but in fact there are other domains sitting on different IP addresses?
