WordPress.org Caused Blank WordPress Admin Panel?

I tried to login my WordPress Admin panel, but got a “lost network connection” error. The website is up and running without any problems, only the WordPress admin panel cannot be loaded. It shows a blank page.

So, what’s wrong?

I remember that the WordPress Admin panel(DashBoard) load two RSS feeds, Wordpress development and WordPress Planet. Based on previous Text Link Ads error experience, I guessed the error may caused by the two WordPress.org feeds.

I checked WordPress.org… Yes, the website was not load as well. So, that’s the problem. WordPress Admin panel tried to load feeds from WordPress.org but not available due to WordPress.org error, then it caused connection time out error.

A few minutes later, the WordPress.org is back online and I can login my WordPress Admin panel again.

Change Feeds on WordPress Admin Dashboard

You may remove or change the feeds on WordPress Admin Dashboard by editing “index.php” file located under “wp-admin” folder of your WordPress installation. Replace the feed URLs with yours, or leave blank strings for an empty dashboard.

Important: Incorrect file modification may cause your WordPress Admin to not load properly.

My two cents

Though the error does not do any damage, I think it is good to skip the loop if the feed is not available. So that the WordPress Admin panel will load properly whenever WordPress.org is down.
