Shop for WiFi router
I will buy a WiFi router from Kuala Lumpur. I don’t want to see my notebook with a tail (network cable) anymore! My ideal WiFi router is Linksys WRT54G Wireless-G Router. The router support 802.11g standard (four times faster than 802.11b) and it is backward compatible. Plus, it also built-in four ports 10/100 switch to connect to wired devices.

Something to read
There is no update for the following few days because I do not bring along my Apple iBook. If you are looking something to read, try to read my previous posts. Who knows, you might find something new from the old posts.

You are a brave man for getting a Linksys WiFi router for your Apple iBook…yeah…though WiFi is an open standard…getting different equipment from different vendors to work together properly is NO EASY CHORE.
Why not get the Airport from Apple?
Believe me…I have owned several WiFi Routers (Linksys, NetGear, D-Link) in the past…and even more WiFi PCMCIA Cards…getting them to talk to each other is hard enough…think about when you want to implement WPA…
Let me know how your experience goes.
Still no money to get my iBook yet…
Take it easy, bud…Happy New Year.

have a great time in KL and happy shopping! and of course best wishes for the new year :-)
I have no problem linking my dell laptop to my netgear wireless at home and dlink wireless in office.
But I was wondering why get the 54mbps model? unless you already have a built-in wireless which does not support 108mbps/speedbooster, WRT54GS seems to be newer.
Would like to get a lingsys…as it is open source, there is a little mod and hacks outside somewhere.
Why count down for year 2006 at Kuala Lumpur too? The fireworks here really nice ;)
Great choice for a router. Is the Belkin Pre-N available there? That may be worth considering as well, since it has a bit more range and speed than the Linksys.
8dee: 54mbps is enough for my family, the WRT54GS (RM310+) is over budget already…
szehau: my sponsor (mom) want to back on Saturday…
Ed Kohler: thank you but too late…
Ohhh damn; lucky you. i wish i could see that amazing city…
