Google Blog Search – brief review
Google launched Google Blog Search on 14th September 2005. It does not limit to Blogger blogs only, the blog search includes content from other blogs in the world.
Today we are launching Blog Search – the easiest way to search for blog content. Blog Search includes content from blogs all over the web (in other words, not just from our own service, Blogger).

As usual, I took a brief review on Google Blog Search.
Table of Contents
First Glance
The front page is as simple as Google.com. The only big difference is less links, move search button to right hand side of text field and “Find blogs on your favorite topics” under the text field.
Blog Search Result
The Google Blog Search will return “Related Blogs” to your search keywords. The search results can be sorted by relavance or date. From the screenshot, we see that Google blog search updates index very often.
Frequent Update
Does it instantly indexed when you published your blog post? From Google Blog Search Help, it states that:
If your blog publishes a site feed in any format and automatically pings an updating service (such as Weblogs.com), we should be able to find and list it.
Search Feed
You can also subscribe to the blog search for latest update on search result. At the end of each page, you see a line like this:
Subscribe: Atom (10 results - 100 results) RSS (10 results - 100 results)
You may choose to subscribe to 10 or 100 results, and two feed formats are available: ATOM and RSS.
Advance Blog Search
Google added new search operators for blog search, in addition to current search operators.
These operators make the blog search even powerful! Don’t know how to use the operators? Never mind, you can goto Advance Blog Search for a user friendly advance search form.
Compare to Other Blog Search
I did a fast (uncomplete) compare with other blog search engines (Technorati and IceRocket). Both Technorati and IceRocket cannot search in a blog site. IceRocket can search for a author. In terms of advance search, Google Blog Search is the winner. (All right, “searching” is Google’s expertise, afterall)
Thought:
Google Blog Search is great. I will use it when I want to search some information in blogsphere. Now, anyone create a Google Blog Search addon for Firefox? :)
