Write the Right Topic At the Right Time

Chinese says “tian shi, di li, ren he”. Meaning, the factors for success are time, place and people.

There are two posts in July 2005 gives me alot traffic in the month, along with Google Adsense income. The two posts are about Rapidshare and Harry Potter. I purposely selected the topics and wrote about them. Yes, I am naughthy. :P

RapidShare

I know the demands for free file hosting is very high nowadays. Many people want to share video files but can’t find a good(read: free) place to host their files.

I knew Rapidshare for quite some time but seldom read about it in Internet. Search for “rapidshare“, the results returned are not quite relevant to free file hosting (my post is ranked No.2 while I am writing this).

I think, “Hey, I can write something about it!”.

I did and it is a right decision. The post “RapidShare – free unlimited file hosting” is one of the hottest post in July and generate much adsense income.

Harry Potter

Believe it or not, Harry Potter does magic!

I am not Harry Potter fan, I do not read any Harry Potter book(yet). But I am excited when the “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” released. I knew many people will looking for free harry potter ebook, and it will available very soon.

(By the way, the harry potter ebook is illegal)

I am right.

The harry potter ebook is leaked in 24 hours after the official book release. I wrote about the news and published it. At the same day, I received over 20 Amazon.com orders! The post is also one of the top page that generate most adsense income.

Thought:
It is important to understand your site visitor. Know what they want and what they like. Make contents that feed their desires, and you will see increasing traffic(and income).
