Compare ASUS ZenFone Selfie VS ZenFone 2: Which Should You Buy?

ASUS ZenFone Selfie has been launched in Malaysia at the end of August 2015. The new Android smartphone equipped with 13MP front camera with flash. How does it compare with ASUS ZenFone 2? Let’s find out in this article.

ASUS ZenFone Selfie design is same as the company’s 2015 flagship smartphone — ZenFone 2, except that you will notice a big front camera on ZenFone Selfie at first glance, and that explain its name.

ZenFone Selfie’s rear and front cameras are both 13MP resolution. The rear camera has laser focus for fast autofocus. The front camera is 13MP with dual-tone flash — a great upgrade from ZenFone 2’s 5MP front-camera.
Thanks to the laser focus, ZenFone Selfie camera focus is a lot faster than ZenFone 2. Saving camera shoot is also faster, comparing to ZenFone 2 which could take up to 1-2 seconds to save a photo.

ZenFone Selfie display is same 5.5-inch Full HD (1920×1080) but uses Corning Gorilla Glass 4, which is 2x more drop-damage resistance than Corning Gorilla Glass 3 used on ZenFone 2.
ASUS drops Intel Atom processor and uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor in ZenFone Selfie. It has 3GB RAM, 1GB less than ZenFone 2. Only 32GB storage model is available, supporting microSD memory card up to 128GB.
Both ZenFone Selfie and ZenFone 2 supports Dual SIM cards, but the latter only allows mobile data from 1 SIM slot. ZenFone Selfie is Dual-SIM-Dual-Standby, support 3G/4G networks on both SIM slots (only one SIM card can connect to 3G/4G at a time).
Both ZenFone 2 and ZenFone Selfie are using 3000 mAh Li-Polymer battery, but we expect Qualcomm Snapdragon processor to be more battery efficiency — longer battery life.

ZenFone Selfie price in Malaysia is RM 1,049 and available in 3 lovely colours: Pure White, Chic Pink, Aqua Blue.
Conclusion

I recommend ZenFone Selfie over ZenFone 2, the former is a welcome upgrade from the already good ZenFone 2.
ZenFone Selfie has better front & back cameras, tougher glass, and supports Dual 4G SIMs. These features are more important and useful than 4GB RAM in your daily phone usage. Also, I bet you will hardly notice the difference between 3GB and 4GB phone memory.
Plus, ZenFone Selfie is RM150 cheaper than ZenFone 2!
