How to solve Ebay Credit Card Verification Problem

Previously, I wrote about EBay rejected my bidding and required credit card verification. The problem has been solved now, finally.

I check back the eBay forum few days ago and discovered a reply from debt68 that we can get verified by eBay by open an eBay seler account:

1. Log in to www.ebay.com.my
2. Click on the “Sell” tab.
3. Go to “Sign up for a seller account” and click on “seller account”.
4. Key in your Credit(Debit)card details and your personal information if necessary.
5. The system will then authorize a RM1 transaction but won’t charge.
6. Once done, go back to where you want to bid.

I tried and it works! :D

A few hours later, Pete of eBay posted a reply too:

For those having trouble removing the bidding limitation by submitting a credit card on file, here’s a solution without the need to create a seller’s account:

1. Go to www.ebay.com.sg. (eBay Singapore)
2. Click on the ‘My eBay’ link found at the top of any eBay page. You may be asked to sign in.
3. Click on the ‘Personal Information’ link under the ‘My Account’ heading.
4. Then, click on the ‘Edit’ link to the right of the ‘Credit Card’ section. You may be asked to sign in for security reasons.
5. Fill in your credit card information, and then click the ‘Continue’ button.

If you find that you are still unable to bid on an item, please write to us for further assistance:

I did not try it on eBay Singapore. But I am wondering why Singapore? Why Malaysians cannot verify themselves on eBay Malaysia? Isn’t it sounds weird? Hmm… :rolls:

Anyway, I bought the mosquito repeller I wanted. Die! Kill all mosquitos! (a repeller does not kill…)

Update: Got reply from a eBay member, katana hunter, for the reason of credit card verification on eBay Singapore:

You can’t do it on MY because MY doesn’t have a direct link to place your credit card on file.
You need to do it on eBay Singapore because they are the ones who handles the eBay South East Asian sites (SG, PH, and MY) and they have a direct link to place your credit card on file with eBay.

Now, that explained. By the way, I tried to add my credit card info on eBay.com before but failed. Man, I am confused by these different eBay sites…

credit card, ebay, malaysia, singapore
