No Fancy Graphics for Pirated Windows Vista

windows vista aero flip 3d effectMicrosoft came out a new reason to pruchase original Windows license — “Pirated Windows Vista would not get fancy graphics.”

With the new operating system, Microsoft is offering plenty of new graphics tricks, including translucent windows, animated flips between open programs and “live icons” that show a graphical representation of the file in question.

But before Vista will display its showiest side, known as Aero, it will run a check to make sure the software was properly purchased.

However, you might not get the fancy graphics even when you are using the original software!

In order to enjoy the Aero effects, your PC needs to install a higher-end version of Windows Vista than Windows Vista Basic, have enough system memory, and graphics chip that support Vista driver.

My two cents

I don’t think people would care about it. If they have chosen to use pirated Windows Vista, they probably won’t mind giving up the fancy effects which has high hardware requirements.

  1. Get on with Linux… And of course there will be work around solution (Patch) for that microsoft .. Problem… :) Since they can’t stop using .DLL

  2. Yes it’s COOL cause it’s core system architecture is highly protected.. (MacOS).. And we all know from where the start menu stolen from (MacOS) … Haha… Godfather of Pirate (Gates)… Want to be Anti-Pirate.. :)

  3. If MS is super dominant, they can impose total crack down of pirated softwares (not just theirs, but also who ever developed on Windows). That would literally mean RM300-500/pc at bare minimum. if 10% of malaysian uses computer and 50% of that is pirated that will be about RM375mil bare minimum.

I really dun think pirated version of vista will be out. Globally that will cost MS in trillions. And it is only natural for MS exec to increase their revenue if they get more ppl to use legal windows and stop use of pirated vista.

    Pirates just watch out ok.

    t. care.

  4. the question regarding the Aero interface is, does it help in productivity? would being able to see the content of the files in the icon serves better in productivity or must someone really open up the file to see the content?

anyway, as a business, of course they hate their margin being cut by the pirates

  5. The other question is why must they allow their software to be pirated? It doesn’t reward them financially, it doesn’t reward their client who also could have opt for the pirated version. Plus it only goes to show that their security is so lame that they cannot control copying of their software.

Margin cut or not, to the users, why should they pay when they have the option not to pay?

I find that article funny in the sense that as if MS is saying, ok u can pirate it if ur hardware is cannot support fancy graphics. As if they are saying, “well not point for u to buy vista if u cannot use Aero, please use the pirated version”. LOL

    cute.

btw, i have a confirm information from a reliable source that say that MS is selling winxp on dual core machine which only uses one core.

  6. Yes, Agrees with your point….thats why the ‘buggy software’ windows xp is still a preferred Windows.

  7. heck I agree to that pirated software increases ms win user base. That is the only reason, why i think ms is not doing much against software pirates. plus the fact that there are linux pressure for them to face.

What disgust me most is that there are so many ppl out there who like windows so much and doesn’t want to pay for it.

wonder if ms is going to give ms windows express edition.. kekekeke..
