Samsung NX10 Review
Compared to DSLR, the Samsung NX10 camera is very compact and lightweight. It is slightly bigger size than compact digital camera. Holding Samsung NX10, I feel like nothing because its weight only 353g (without battery and card).
The whole camera is rounded shape, without hard edge. The camera grip helps to hold the camera in your palm.
But, don’t be fooled by its size. Samsung NX10 is mirrorless interchangeable lens camera. It’s rich features would satisfy both your needs for point-and-shoot and manual controls.
The review unit I received comes with the slender fixed-focus 30mm F2.0 pancake lens. I love the blue color ring around the lens. :)
The first thing I noticed about Samsung NX10 is its bright AMOLED display, which is bright and crisp. How nice it would be if DSLR has a display like Samsung NX10!
Samsung NX10 is point-and-shoot friendly with Smart Auto mode, where the camera automatically define all the settings required to take a good picture.
For professional photographer, you may find the control you needs in other shooting modes, same as DSLR. The different is that you set almost everything from the menu on Samsung NX10 AMOLED display (or EVF).
The control menu is comprehensive but could be scare off beginners because all the settings squeeze into the 3″ display. It is also take longer time to navigate to the setting you want.
Thanks to the Samsung NX10 mirror-less system, what you see on the display is what you get in the photo. You adjust the camera settings and the camera would reflect the changes to the display. No more trial and error.
However, the Samsung NX10’s “Contrast AutoFocus” is slower than DSLR’s “Phase detection AF”. It is especially noticeable in low light environment. It would take 2-3 seconds to get the focus.
Samsung NX10 camera lenses
Currently, there are only 3 compatible lenses for Samsung NX10: 30mm pancake, 18-55mm, and 50-200mm. There’s adapter for Samsung NX to allow the camera use other brands’ lenses.

My two cents
Would I buy Samsung NX10? Yes, if I have the money.
For me, Samsung NX10 is a compact digital camera with DSLR features. DSLR photographers would love to have it as a secondary camera which can keep in the pocket.
If DSLR is bulky and looks scary to you, do consider spend the same amount of money to get the smaller, cuter, but feature rich Samsung NX10 camera.
