My two cents

Adobe Systems has the great software but they are well known for its high price tag. It is a great move to cut the software price for students.

Note that the software included in Adobe CS4 Design Premium Student Edition is same as normal edition($2,313.00 USD) but a lot cheaper!

Thumbs up for Adobe! (Wish I am a college student now…)

  1. still expensive. e.g. A father with an income of RM4000 spends 10% of his salary on a piece of software, this is ridiculous. Unless the price is adjusted according to our local income, it would be hard for people to resist pirated software.

  2. Great! If the major software companies want to fight with the software piracy, they should to considerate to lower its prices. Specially in developing countries. And not only for students.

  3. Knowing that most of the students are using pirated Adobe CS4, by introducing special student price, it may gain back some market share.

    What a great marketing idea!

  4. Wow! that is really a huge discount, but is the student edition same as the normal/retail edition which cost higher? Adobe is well known for it’s high price tag and most of us would consider other alternative. But now this is a real bargain, will they check if you are a student only grant you to buy at the price? I still have my old college ID card…

  5. Will you people read the post properly before commenting? The price is clearly written as RM399 and not $399, RM399 is only about $100. There is no conversion to US Dollars to worry about, it is sold locally using local currency, RM399.

I think at that price tag, it is affordable and value for money. Obviously students who plan to buy it know how to use it well. If you are able to use it well, you can earn back $100 through freelancing maximum 3-5 times.

  6. Any idea if it is the PC edition or the MAC edition? Since I’m a part time Masters student, I’d love to get my hands on this but I need a MAC edition. My last PC is RIP in some junkyard.

  7. Hi, do you know why I was required to give them a photostat copy of my I.C. and Student I.D. when I purchased the CS4 Student Edition from MacCity? I don’t know why because after that, I’ll still have to register online with Adobe and have to provide Adobe the same thing, the I.C. and Student I.D. in order to obtain the serial number?
